Day One....Eastbound and Down, Loaded up and Truckin'
Hello Family and Friends,
Thank you for following!
I had to say goodbye to those I love very, very much and hit the road. This is a cathartic and deeply meaningful trip for me. The huge bonus is seeing my sister in North Carolina as soon as I can get there...after a few adventures. I see this trip as part of my healing journey. I gave Jenn and the boys a hug and off I went.
Calamity Jane and I had a really good first day.
On my way out of town, I stopped to see my friend Diane (that's her and I dressed up for the Bridgerton Experience in San Francisco a few months back. (She was chosen "Diamond of the Season" by the queen at the ball"!) She's always up for fancy dress, just like my friend Deborah, aka "Cricket". Diane gave me the journal she made, some emergency candy and a her handmade card. Deborah also made me a journal and it has prompts. So nice.
Yesterday I got to visit Steve's good friends Tommy and Kirk. Tommy and Kelsey's son Jack is in my lap and he is the happiest baby I have ever met. Then, at Kirk's house I got to visit with him, his mom and his two kids Liam and Logan. Liam plays a mean game of checkers and he's only five. Kirk made dinner and I really appreciated the hospitality. Kirk's wife Amanda was at a conference, so I didn't get to see her. :-(
The messy van photo is the "before" all was tidy. This pic shows the challenge of everything having it's place and staying in it when not in use!
I had an unexpected visitor in the van today, a yellowjacket that made itself at home inside the van. He was escorted out via a swift and efficient swipe of my bug zapper. A quick prayer and he was off to bug heaven. Had to do it, it was him.... or me. 👀
I am now in Visalia visiting my stepmom Janice and she is taking good care of me. I got to see Cousin Julie and tomorrow Cousin Shari! Wednesday, I head to Barstow and that starts the journey across 40, going toward Flagstaff and Sedona to see friends.
See you at the next post.
Oh yeah.....play this, okay? I'm Eastbound and Down.
