This Traveler Experienced Some Real Culture Today

 Hello Family and Friends,

Today was absolutely spectacular. Traveling in the van, driving for hours is not the highlight of the adventure, but where I stop.

My friend Maureen, after a wonderful breakfast she made, took me to Crystal Bridges, a world-renowned art museum here in Rogers, Arkansas. Fascinating back story: https://www.artnews.com/art-news/news/the-durand-sale-dismay-and-anger-linger-1982/

My friends, I stood 18" away from Durand's "Kindred Sprits" painting, worth a mere 35 million dollars. Here it is. (It's worth a lot more...35 million was the 2005 price!)

Though all of the genres of art were amazing, the highlight of my day was the Diego Rivera exhibit.

This man had a lot to say, so friendly and asked where we were from. Maureen, a few miles away, me, SF Bay Area. He wished me well on my journey to Asheville.

Only 77 degrees and 68% humidity  -  and this was in the morning.

OMG. This is a storm shelter. You bolt yourself in with a special lock. I'm glad the sirens didn't go off and Maureen didn't have to drag me in there.
